Novi Sad, June 03, 2016 –Continuous commitment for production of non-GMO food is part of the business strategy of Agro-industrial Complex STUDEN Holding in Brcko, one of the biggest production-food complex in the region, in which the factory for edible oil production BIMAL operates.
Corporate Communications Director STUDEN Holding & BIMAL, Natasa Pucar, at the press conference “FoodTalk 2016” held in Novi Sad within the panel “Basket of health food – Organic production, food, GMO and certificates”, talked on strategic commitment of the Brcko factory for production of non-GMO soybean products and membership in Danube Soya Association.
“BIMAL always had a clear strategy: dedication to production without genetic modification since the BIMAL became the part of Holding in 2002. Reason for such orientation is simple, BIMAL, that is STUDEN Holding, sees its future and place on large and competitive market in production of non-GMO food”, said Pucar.
ELISA test is being performed in BIMAL laboratory by which the presence of genetic modification can be determined immediately in the soybean seed (liberty link and roundup ready). In addition, there is an analysis of the seed by PCR method which determines a presence of the gene in the seed itself which can’t be determined by other tests.
Since 2012 BIMAL is a member of Danube Soya Association which promotes and incites growing of genetically non-modified soybean in the Dunav region. “As a member of this Association, BIMAL purchases Danube soybean and produces non-GMO products from soybean and protein meals in order to provide that final products, such as eggs, milk and meat that we eat, are also without genetic modification, the goal to be strived by regional food industry”, concluded Pucar.
